forest-related services to industry, government, academia, interest
groups, first nations, and consultants. I, Frank
Heinzelmann, specialize in projecting long-term effects of forest
management on a range of environmental indicators, and I contrast alternative
scenarios by developing and using spatially-explicit computer simulations.
For my Ph.D., I have developed the ForestWerks
Model, a watershed processes and forest management simulation that
tracks cumulative watershed effects. The focus of this project is to
predict relative impacts of forest management on fish habitat in small
and intermediate streams in coastal British Columbia.
I also developed the Stream Temperature
Model to assess changes to stream temperature impacted by forestry
activities and the consequential risk to fish species and temperature
influenced resource values.
